The final game of the 2022/23 NFL regular season sees two NFC North teams battling it out on Sunday Night Football with a playoff spot on the line. The Green Bay Packers will come into this game knowing that their season comes down simply to “win and they’re in” as a victory over the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field will see them reach the NFL postseason for a 13th time in the past 15 seasons. Fans may not have expected to be in this position five weeks ago as the Pack were sitting on a 4-8 record and looked to be heading for a losing season after racking up 13 wins in the previous campaign. However, a 41-17 rout of the Minnesota Vikings at home means that Green Bay has racked up four straight victories to bring their record to 8-8 on the year and put them in control of their own destiny in the final week of the season. 

Standing in their way is a Detroit Lions team looking to make what would be only their fourth postseason appearance in the last 22 years. Detroit has shown a ton of heart this season to battle back into contention after starting the season by losing six of their first seven games. A run of seven wins and two losses in the final nine games of the season has them also sitting on 8-8 record as they seek their third consecutive win over the Packers. The Lions still have a shot at the playoffs but it would require the Rams to beat the Seahawks in their game, which kicks off before this matchup between Green Bay and Detroit. That means that, should the Rams lose, the Lions could potentially be out of contention even before this game kicks off. However, a Rams win means that Detroit will get into the playoffs with a win over Green Bay.
