Giro - Stage 13 Predictions & Betting tips - Giro d'Italia
by Matthew Newman |
Stage 13 of the Giro d'Italia has the look of a puncheurs stage with a series of short and sharp Cat Four climbs, including one up to the line. It looks like a spring one-off type stage so those are the riders to concentrate on for our prediction.
Wout van Aert got his Giro stage win in Siena. That was a stage that fell apart around him, quite literally in the terms of his main stage rivals in the betting but as a smart spring rider, this will appeal to him.
It has already been a hugely successful Giro for Mads Pedersen and this is his sort of stage. On the podium in five of the seven monuments and classics he contested in the spring, this terrain is perfect for his riding style.
Short and punchy climbs will always bring Tom Pidcock into the equation. The Brit was involved in a crash on the stage that saw part of the Strade Bianche course used which was a blow to him given his record in the event. This is another stage that should suit.
Another to consider is Isaac del Toro who has finished second in three stages so far this Giro. He deserves a change of luck to get his wheel in front at the line.
