Ghana come into this African Cup of Nations on a run of one defeat in their last ten games. Their last defeat was by Kenya in the qualifying group for this tournament. They finished top of that group two points ahead of Kenya and well clear of Ethiopia and Sierra Leonne who were disqualified. The last six tournaments have seen Ghana reach at the least the semi-finals losing finals in both 2010 and 2015. Ghana have only played two games this year but are yet to concede a goal. A 1-0 win that clinched winning their qualifying group was followed by a recent goalless draw with South Africa. Overall, they have gone three games without conceding a goal.
Benin are ranked 88th in the world and have qualified for the finals of this tournament for the first time since 2010. They have never previously made it out of their group and are yet to win a match in the finals. To qualify for the 2019 tournament, they finished second behind Algeria and ahead of Gambia and Togo. They won all three home games but only earned a point on their travels. They have won their last fthree games but they were gainst lowly ranked sides.
