Norway bid to add the world title to the European championship they already hold. They always seem to be in contention to win major titles and only once since 2005 have they failed to make at least the last four in the world championships. Now they take on France for the world title that they last won six years ago. They have been in great form throughout this tournament, winning all of their matches bar a 30-30 daw with defending champions, the Netherlands.The quarter finals saw them defeat the Russian Handball Federation and that was followed by a 27-21 win over Spain. That match was level at the break but a powerful second half display saw Norway reach this final.

France won this title four years ago and are the reigning Olympic champions. They have bounced back well after a disappointing defence of their world title in 2019 when only finishing 13th. Last year saw them make the final in the European championships, losing to Norway. They have won all of their matches in this tournament but have had close battles in the knockout stages. They beat Sweden in the quarter finals, having been level at half time. Then came their semi-final and they trailed Denmark before eventually winning 23-22. This is going to be even tougher, back Norway to win this final.
