A late goal put Argentina into the last sixteen of the 2018 World Cup but they still have a lot to do to convince anyone they can go deep into this tournament. With just a few minutes to go it looked as if they were going to be knocked out with the score in their final group match against Nigeria still level. Then came that late Marcos Rojo goal to give them the lead and to take them into the last sixteen. Their performance against Nigeria was better than the one that saw them lose 3-0 to Croatia but their defence still looks a major worry and it faces a much tougher task in this game against a talented French side. The average age of their side was over 30 in the game against Nigeria and if that line-up plays again, it's hard to see them coping against the young guns of France.
The French side went unbeaten in their group beating Australia and Peru before a rather boring goalless draw with Denmark. They had already qualified after two games and made several changes so it's best to ignore that performance. They haven't quite caught fire yet but there have been promising signs that they could be major challengers in this tournament. M'bappe has been highly impressive so far and you can just see him causing the aging Argentinian defence plenty of problems in this game. France definitely have the strength and flair in their squad to win this match, go for them to get the win and reach the quarter finals.
