Fiorentina finished 16th in Serie A, just three points above the relegation zone. They had a dreadful second half of the season and a form guide for the last 15 league games had them in the bottom three with only one win. This season has seen that disappointing form continue. Two league games have both ended in defeat starting with a 4-3 home loss to Napoli. That was followed by a 2-1 loss away at Genoa. Those defeats have left them in 16th place again, one of five teams who are yet to earn a league point. Fiorentina have gone 11 home league games without a win, that may well reach the dozen mark this weekend.

Juventus won the title again last season and have strengthened their squad during the summer. They have started the new league season with two victories. First up, they won 1-0 away at Parma and then won their first home league game of the season beating Napoli 4-3 at home in a real thriller. Juventus went 3-0 up, were pegged back to 3-3 but won thanks to a 92nd minute own goal. They have won their last two away league games against Fiorentina without conceding a goal.
