Everton will hope that playing at home brings better fortunes as they prepare to host embattled Chelsea next in the Premier League. Eight matches remain in their league campaign, and European football-chasing Everton are eighth, two places behind Chelsea. Read on to find our prediction for this match.
The two sides are separated by five points, with hosts Everton on 43 while Chelsea have garnered 48, with both coming off defeats. As the two teams are sitting outside the European football places, we expect a grueling battle for three points here. When playing at home, the Toffees have failed to beat any of the teams currently in the top 10.
Having had a full week to prepare, however, should give then a head start against a jaded Chelsea side. The Blues are coming off another torrid outing, having been thrashed 3-0 at home by PSG in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Chelsea have only managed one away win in the last eight meetings with Everton.

Everton - Chelsea: Form Analysis
Everton had their quest for a third straight win thwarted away at Arsenal last time out. While they gave a good account of themselves, they couldn’t hold on to the end, as the game was settled by two late Arsenal goals.
The 2-0 defeat also meant they only have one clean sheet in the last five matches. David Moyes’ side is now just one point above ninth. There could be jitters, with the team having won just five of their 15 league games at home. They did win the latest one at Hill Dickinson, though, beating Burnley 2-0. That, and a spirited performance against Arsenal, should give Everton the lift they need here.
Chelsea are winless in 90 minutes across six of their last seven games.
Chelsea will also be looking at this as a winnable encounter, having beaten their hosts in the last two meetings. The Blues are also unbeaten in this fixture in the last four meetings with Everton and kept clean sheets in all four. They won 2-0 in the reverse match and will hope to get anywhere close to that form, as they’ve been struggling lately. In their last three outings, Chelsea have suffered straight defeats.
A 1-0 loss to Newcastle in the league last time out is sandwiched by two losses to PSG in the Champions League. While they’ve dominated the last four meetings with Everton, Liam Rosenior’s men have only managed one win in eight away games at Everton.

Everton & Chelsea Squad Analysis
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been a pillar in the team, but he has some corrections to think of. The skipper was culpable to some extent in both of Arsenal’s goals last time out and will be pressured to give a better performance.
A game against Chelsea would offer him a good platform, as he has seven career clean sheets against the Blues. Bidding to solidify the defence, David Moyes might call on James Tarkowski, who missed the Arsenal defeat. Jack Grealish and Carlos Alcaraz remain out with injury.
Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite remains a doubt for the Chelsea visit.
Chelsea’s Cole Palmer has struggled to hit his previous highs and will hope to do better here. Against Everton, he has a good record, having scored five times, with the latest being in the reverse meeting.
Defensively, Liam Rosenior will be sweating over the fitness of a few key men. Trevoh Chalobah left the pitch injured against PSG, joining a ballooning treatment room at Stamford Bridge. The visitors also have Reece James, Jamie Gittens, and Levi Colwill ruled out of this match.

Our Everton vs Chelsea Prediction
Everton might be struggling at their new home, but Chelsea seems to be in deeper trouble. The Blues are coming from a third straight defeat and have particularly been porous at the back. They’ve conceded 12 times in the last five matches and have generally underperformed away to Everton.
The visitors have only won once in eight matches at Everton. Both sides are coming off league defeats, but Everton will have the advantage of extended rest and fewer injuries to key players. Our prediction for Everton v Chelsea is that Everton wins.
