England vs Poland Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Steve Ashfield | in World Cup Prediction
The most anticipated game in Group I of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers is here; England hosts Poland in what would turn out to be one of the most important matches for the two nations in this group. England go to the game topping the group on six points while Poland are joint second with four points. Both sides warmed up for this game with wins; England beating Albania 2-0 away. In that game, England manager Gareth Southgate made six changes after the 5-0 opening win over San Marino. Harry Kane’s inclusion was among the changes and he inspired the team, scoring one and setting up the other. Now against Poland, it will be a step up in difficulty but with just one loss in 10 matches, England should be well equipped to handle the Poles. They have seven wins in the 10 matches while scoring and defending haven’t posed problems, with the team netting 11 goals in the last three matches and conceding none. Even though England have three straight home wins, the teams they’ve faced are nothing close to Poland in terms of strength, thus the hosts need to be alert here. They have a good run though, with just one loss in the last 13 matches. England are unbeaten in 24 World Cup qualification matches at home, with six clean sheets in the last seven and 10 straight wins.
Poland are coming from a 3-0 win over Andorra, showing much improvement from their 3-3 draw with Hungary, when they needed to come from down twice to register a point. Andorra was definitely a much weaker opponent but Poland can’t shake off the fact that they’ve been very shaky lately, despite the amount of quality in the playing unit. Before their draw with Hungary, Poland had losses to Netherlands and Italy and the clean sheet against Andorra was just their first in four matches. They’ve conceded seven goals and scored seven in the last four matches. Manager Paulo Sousa had his key men starting against Andorra but most played for just about 60 minutes, before their withdrawal. Robert Lewandowski, their main threat, played 63 minutes and scored the opening two goals, making it three in the qualifiers so far. However, he will miss this game, a massive blow for Poland. It is their away form that should worry the coach as the team heads to England; they have just one win in the last four away matches and had to battle in their last away game to earn a draw with Hungary. In their last 15 away matches in World Cup qualifiers, Poland have managed just one clean sheet, and conceded two or more goals in nine. They have four wins and seven losses in the 15 away World Cup qualification matches.

Our England vs Poland Prediction
For these two nations, their meetings will be the toughest in this group, and England will be glad to start at home, where they have a good run and when they have the momentum. Both are coming from wins and their matches have been high scoring, but Poland have questions on their away form. With Harry Kane scoring on Sunday that will give him added confidence. Poland meanwhile are without Robert Lewandowski. We expect both sides to score here, but England’s dominance at home should carry them through, so back the hosts to win here.
