Elisabetta Cocciaretto has been nothing short of brilliant, winning four of her five games in this tournament in straight sets. Her last two especially made a strong statement, having beaten Ann Li and Anna Bondar as the underdogs in the RO16 and quarterfinal, respectively.

She was the 2023 runner-up in the Hobart International and is on track to make another final if she keeps her form up. The problem now is that the Italian now faces Croatia’s Ruzic, a player who has beaten her twice in their three H2Hs.

Ruzic joined the RO32 after her defeat in the WTA Brisbane qualifying  stages. She's responded to that setback brilliantly, with three straight two-set wins that left no room for doubt.
