It's been an excellent start to the clay court season for the 16th-seeded Elina Svitolina. One tournament has already been secured and in the last 16 of the Italian Open, the Ukrainian faces 29th-seeded Danielle Collins. Here's our match prediction.

Svitolina won the Open de Rouen and then made it to the last four in Madrid. In 14 matches on clay this year, only Aryna Sabalenka has beaten the 30-year-old. Her first 12 clay court wins of the year were all won in straight sets. That run ended in the last round.

The world number 14 had to go to a final set to get past qualifier Hailey Baptiste. Now she faces another American and has lost two of her previous three matches against Collins. All were on hard courts with Svitolina winning the most recent one at Indian Wells this year.

Danielle Collins caused a surprise in the last round when beating the second seed Iga Swiatek. Collins is down to 46th in the live rankings as she's defending the points won when reaching the semi-finals here last year.

A win over Svitolina will take the American into her second clay court quarter-final of the year.

This is tough though and we tip Svitolina to get the victory.
