Ecuador had a good start to the 2022 World Cup qualifiers but seem to have run out of steam ahead of their home game against Paraguay as the CONMEBOL qualifiers go into the seventh round. They go to this game placed third with nine points, two ahead of visiting Paraguay, who are placed sixth. Ecuador are coming from a poor showing at the Copa America and have no win in their last seven matches, losing four in that run. They also have no clean sheet in 13 matches and have conceded two or more goals in six of their last 10 matches. In the qualifiers, Ecuador have three wins and three losses in their opening six matches and heading here they’ve suffered back to back losses to Brazil and Argentina. Paraguay however have no win in their last four World Cup qualification matches and have conceded twice in two of the four. In their last outing in the qualifiers, thy were thumped 2-0 by Brazil. They will however go to this game with a level of confidence, having gone unbeaten in their last five away matches in World Cup qualifiers. In that run, they have two draws and three wins, with three clean sheets in the five and having failed to score in one.
