Denmark last reached the knock-out stages of the World Cup in 2002 but after beating Peru in their opening game, a win over Australia would put them in a great position to get through to the last sixteen in Russia. They are unbeaten in their last five games with three wins and two draws but the most striking statistic is that they haven't conceded a goal in those five matches. Kasper Schmeichel has gone 534 minutes at this level without conceding a goal. Of course that could have all changed if Peru hadn't missed a penalty in the first half of their game against Denmark on Saturday. Not that Schmeichel can claim any heroics over that as Cueva hit the ball over the crossbar. Denmark kept it tight and counter-attacked against the talented Peru side but may be able to get more of the ball in this game against Australia and get the three points.

Australia have lost their last four games in the World Cup finals and conceded at least twice in all of those defeats. They put up a good display at the weekend against France, though their opponents didn't play anywhere near as well as we know they can. The Socceroos aren't always that hot away from home and are still to get a win outside of Australia in this tournament. They know that another defeat will leave them unlikely to be able to qualify unless Peru can beat France later in the day. They will fight all the way but seemed to run out of gas against France and can't afford to do that again. Go for Denmark to get the win in this match.
