There won’t be much time to rest for Cameron Norrie, who is set to meet Daniil Medvedev in the first round of the French Open. These two clash for the fifth time, and the winner here will meet up with Emil Ruusuvuori or Aleksandar Kovacevic. Below is our prediction for the match.

Medvedev is a clear favorite coming into this game. In the four meetings between the two, he registered straight wins, all in straight sets.

The former world No. 2 has had a difficult season so far, a poor run that has seen him slide out of the top-10 for the first time since 2018. In his last outing, Medvedev was in the third round, eliminated from the Rome Masters by Lorenzo Musetti.

While Medvedev opted to take a break after his elimination from the Rome Masters, Norrie headed out to the Geneva Open. He had a deep run before falling to Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals.

That run to the last four comes as Norrie’s highlight this year. This season, though, he carries a very poor record in the first round. Five times in matches at this round at the tour level, the Briton suffered defeat.

One of those was at the Australian Open. His best record at the French Open was getting to the third round on three separate occasions. Last year Norrie lost in the first round here for the third time.
