Cyprus have not lost to Slovenia in their last two meetings, which were in the Nations League. This time they meet in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers with hosts Cyprus seeking their first win as Slovenia eye a second win in Group H. Slovenia are second in the group with three points and Cyprus fifth with a point. Cyprus are coming from a 1-0 loss away to Croatia, leaving them winless in three straight matches and just one win in 13 matches. That loss to Croatia was their 10th in 13 matches and they’ve failed to score in their last three matches. In World Cup qualification matches, Cyprus have no win in their last five matches, losing four, keeping just one clean sheet and conceding eight goals. They’ve failed to score in four of their last five World Cup qualification matches while three of the five have produced under 2.5 goals.

Slovenia started off their campaign with a surprise win over Croatia but could not follow it up on Match Day 2, losing 2-1 in Russia. In their last 10 matches, Slovenia have done well, registering six wins, eight clean sheets and losing only once. They’ve not been so sharp in attack though, the last 10 matches producing more than a goal in just three, while six of the 10 have produced under 2.5 goals. Slovenia’s loss to Russia was their first in four away matches, breaking a run of two wins and a draw with three straight clean sheets. The visiting side will be hoping to reestablish that good away run but their record in World Cup qualifiers has four straight away losses. Four of the last five away World Cup qualification matches have also produced under 2.5 goals.
