Croatia look to get off to a good start in Group 1 of League A. They host Austria who won promotion from League B in the last Nations League. The other two countries in this group are France and Denmark so it may well be that it’s Croatia and Austria who will be battling it out to avoid relegation to League B. Croatia don’t have a great Nations League record with only two wins in 10 games and five of the last six ending in defeat. They come into this Nations League in good form though with a run of nine games unbeaten since they lost to Spain in the European Championships last year.and have qualified for the 2022 World Cup. That loss to Spain was after extra time, over 90 minutes Croatia are unbeaten in 12 matches. They are unbeaten in their last eight home internationals.

Austria won promotion in the 2020/21 Nations League finishing three points clear of Norway to win their group. Away form got them that promotion with all three games won. They won’t be going to Qatar in November though after losing a recent play-off match away in Wales. They have no win in their last two matches and only won three of the last nine played. That good away form has disappeared too with three of their last four matches on the road being lost. Croatia can be backed to start the group with a home win.
