ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025: Winner prediction and outright odds

Women's Cricket World Cup winner predictions

Looking through the history books, Australia has dominated this competition over the years, winning seven of the 12 titles, including the most recent one in 2021 (2022). England (4) and New Zealand are the only other nations to have lifted the coveted trophy.

Alyssa Healy’s side arrive at the tournament as the clear favourites, priced at 1.80 with most of the best online betting sites. The Southern Stars will also have benefited significantly from having just completed a three-match ODI warm-up series against India, which they won 2-1.

However, bookies are also expecting big performances from India, given they have home advantage, as well as England, who are the second most successful nation in Women’s World Cup history after the Aussies.

Behind the ‘big three’ nations mentioned above, there are still plenty of lurkers that could spring surprises this year, including the likes of South Africa, which just beat Pakistan 2-1 in their three-match series. New Zealand and co-hosts Sri Lanka are also well capable of upsetting the odds.

While plenty can still change as the tournament progresses, it’s hard to overlook the defending champions as the clear front-runners. Our ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 prediction is: Australia wins the title!

ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 Player Props: Who will be the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker?

Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 Player Props predictions

All eight participating nations at the 2025 Women's World Cup have already submitted their squad lists for the competition, and the warm-up matches ahead of the tournament are expected to provide valuable insight into which players are in good form.

The ICC provided their latest ODI player rankings on September 22, and it is India’s Smriti Mandhana, who is currently in the top spot after scoring two centuries in three matches against Australia this month. Mandhana is currently the third-favourite at 6.00 to finish as the top scorer in this year’s World Cup.

The outright favourite for the top scorer honour is Australian batter Beth Rooney (third in ICC ranking) at odds of 4.33, and she is followed by her teammate Phoebe Litchfield, who is only marginally behind at 5.00.

As for the bowlers, England’s Sophie Ecclestone is top of the pile in the ICC Rankings, and she is expected to have a big role to play on the spin-friendly pitches in the subcontinent. However, priced at 9.00, she is not the favourite to finish as the leading wicket-taker according to the latest odds.

Australia’s Alana King is leading the betting boards for the top wicket-taker award at 7.00 despite dropping three places to eighth in the updated ODI player rankings. Fellow Aussie Megan Schutt is marginally in second at odds of 7.50.

Beginners Guide to how the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 works

how the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 works

At the end of this competition, we will bid adieu to the current format of the Women's ODI World Cup, as the ICC is set to expand both the T20 and one-day international tournaments to provide more teams with a chance to compete on the biggest stages from next year.

Therefore, this edition of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup will resemble the last. There are no groups; all eight teams will face the other nations once in a league-type format; the top four teams in the standings progress to the knockout stage.

Points are allocated as follows:

  • Win = 2 points
  • No result/ Abandoned = 1 point
  • Loss = 0 points

The team that ends the group stage top of the table will face the team that finished fourth, and the second-placed team will meet the team in third in the knockout rounds. The two winners of those matches will progress to the final on November 2.

Matches in India at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 will be played at the ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam) and DY Patil Stadium (Navi Mumbai).

The Premadasa Stadium in Colombo is the sole venue in Sri Lanka that will be used during the tournament. Notably, following an agreement between the BCCI, PCB and the ICC, matches between India and Pakistan will be played at a neutral venue.

How to make good predictions on the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025

how to make good ICC Women's Cricket World Cup predictions

With the world’s best teams set to battle it out at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, betting on matches can be a little tricky. However, a smart strategy backed by careful analysis can significantly boost your chances of success.

Here are some important factors to consider when placing bets on this year’s tournament:

  • Team form and momentum
  • Player fitness and squad depth
  • Pitch, venue and weather conditions
  • Head-to-Head trends
  • Tournament experience

Let’s take a look at how these factors tie in to your betting decisions.

Team form and momentum

Women's Cricket World Cup betting guide

While looking back at teams’ previous performances at the World Cups is an excellent starting point for your betting analysis, do not overlook how a side has performed in the lead-up to the competition. A recent run of positive results can often outweigh historic records.

Player fitness and squad depth

In the weeks leading up to the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, there were a handful of key players who sustained injuries and are either doubts or ruled out entirely from the competition.

Some of the most notable players set to miss out are Australian all-rounder Grace Harris and Indian wicket-keeper batter Yastika Bhatia. Bear in mind that key player absences can impact the overall performance of a team.

Pitch, venue and weather conditions

Women's Cricket World Cup predictions - betting help

Pitches in the subcontinent are well-known to be slower than in other parts of the world and tend to favour batting and spin bowlers. The heat in these countries also plays a major role in pitch conditions and should be taken into consideration during your analysis.

Head-to-Head trends

Widely considered one of the most useful pieces of information for cricket betting, head-to-head records usually reveal trends around how well a team tends to perform against others. Additionally, keep an eye out for key rivalries such as India vs. Pakistan, where upset results are often produced.

Tournament experience

It’s easier to perform in domestic and one-off series in which there are fewer cameras around. However, the World Cup stage is a different beast, and the pressure that comes with it can easily rattle even the best players in the world. Experience in such situations is therefore key, as we have seen from Australia, who have delivered on the grandest stage of them all year on year.
