IPL 2026 winner prediction and outright odds

IPL winner prediction

It was a season to remember for Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans as they finally got to witness their team put an end to the 18-year wait for their first ever Indian Premier League title. Now, the question on everyone’s lips: will they be able to do it again?

It’s looking like it's going to be an ultra-competitive season with a number of teams seemingly neck-and-neck coming into the start of the campaign. RCB, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans will all be fancying their chances and the oddsmakers clearly don’t see much separating the squads.

For our money, backing the defending champions, who have retained the core of their title-winning 2025 side, looks to be a smart play. Only once has a team managed to repeat as champions in the modern era (Mumbai Indians in 2020), but we believe this RCB side is well-equipped to do just that. Expect them to pick up where they left off and storm into the 2026 season full of confidence after making history last year.

Our 2026 IPL prediction: Royal Challengers Bengaluru!

Prediction on the group stage: Who will reach the play-offs?

IPL group stage odds

We’re expecting more of the same from some of the league’s powerhouses in Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, each of whom made the play-offs in 2025. The interesting discussion comes in regarding the fourth position.

Kolkata Knight Riders were the biggest spenders at the 2026 IPL Auction, splashing out approximately ₹64.3 crore on no fewer than 13 players, including some record-breaking buys such as making Cameron Green the most expensive overseas player (₹25.20 crore).

With the money spent, fans will be expecting a strong showing from the team this year after disappointingly finishing 8th in the standings in 2025. They are certainly one of the top teams to keep an eye on coming into the new season and are our pick to round out the play-off positions.

Our 2026 IPL play-off predictions: RCB, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings and KKR!+

2026 IPL prediction: odds to finish top 4

  • Rajasthan Royals - 2.37
  • Punjab Kings - 2.50
  • Chennai Super Kings - 7.50
  • Kolkata Knight Riders - 8.00
  • Delhi Capitals - 17.00

IPL 2026 Player Accolades: Who will win the Orange Cap?

IPL orange cap odds

Sai Sudharsan is the reigning Orange Cap winner and will of course be one of the top contenders to retain his crown this time around. At just 24 years of age, the young batter is in his prime years.

However, the rumours are starting to swirl that this could be Virat Kohli’s final season in the IPL and the RCB player would love nothing more than to go out on top by winning his third Orange Cap (2016, 2024). The 37-year-old claimed the award just two years ago, proving that he is very much still a force to be reckoned with in this league. Kohli finished third in the Orange Cap ranking last year and will come into the new season as arguably the most consistent batter in the IPL.

Our 2026 IPL Orange Cap prediction: Virat Kohli!

2026 IPL prediction: favourites for the top batsman

  • Virat Kohli - 6.50
  • IPKP Kishan - 7.50
  • S.Gill - 8.50
  • V.Suryavanshi - 11.00
  • Y.Jaiswal - 11.00
  • R.Patidar - 12.00
  • H.Klassen - 13.00

  • SV.Samson - 15.00

IPL 2026 Player Accolades: Who will win the Purple Cap?

Of all the individual player prop bets, the race for the purple cap is perhaps the most difficult to call. Last year saw Gujarat Titans’ Prasidh Krishna take the honours with his league-high 25 wickets and he’ll certainly be one to watch this time around as well.

We’re turning our attention to Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad for the upcoming season though. One of the hottest young spinners in the IPL, Ahmad established himself in 2025 as an elite wicket taker and could be primed to take the next leap forward in 2026.

He posted 16 wickets in his debut season in 2023, 8 in 2024, and then exploded with 24 wickets in the 2025 season, finishing second to Krishna in the rankings. At just 21 years of age, the Afghan sensation should be able to go from strength to strength and could be excellent value to claim the 2026 Purple Cap.

Our 2026 IPL Purple Cap prediction: Noor Ahmad!

2026 IPL prediction: favourites for the top bowler

  • P.Krishna - 6.50
  • A.Kamnoj - 7.50
  • Ravi Bishnoi - 9.00
  • V.Arora - 10.00
  • Rashid Khan - 11.00
  • JC Archer - 11.00
  • V.Vyshak - 17.00
  • SN.Thakur - 17.00
  • L.Ngidi - 21.00
  • Kuldeep Yadav - 26.00

Beginners Guide to how the IPL 2026 works

The format for the upcoming IPL mirrors last year’s competition. The teams are split into two groups, A and B, each comprising five teams. We're still awaiting the announcement of the groups and the team schedules, which we will update as soon as it is available. Until then, you can take a look at last season's group structure below:

  • Group A: Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings
  • Group B: Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants

Each team plays twice against the teams in their group and the team in the same row in the other group, and once against the remaining four teams in the other group. Once the group stage is complete, the top four teams (based on points) will qualify for the playoffs.

The top two teams face off in "Qualifier 1," while the remaining two teams play in the "Eliminator" match. The winner of Qualifier 1 advances directly to the final, while the losing team gets another chance in "Qualifier 2" against the winner of the Eliminator. The victor of Qualifier 2 progresses to the final, where the IPL champions will be determined.

Our tips on betting on the 2026 IPL

cricket predictions

Before you dive into placing your wagers, here are our top five tips to help you increase your chances of landing winning bets on the 2026 IPL.

  • Analyse the strengths and weaknesses of each team
  • Track the form and performance of key players
  • Factor in the impact of home-ground advantage
  • Review historical head-to-head matches
  • Spread your bets across different markets

By following these tips and conducting thorough research, you can improve your chances of placing successful bets on the IPL 2026 and enjoy a rewarding and enjoyable betting experience.

1. Analyse the strengths and weaknesses of each team

cricket predictions and betting tips

Assess the strengths and weaknesses of each IPL team, particularly focusing on their batting and bowling prowess. Pay specific attention to key players who are not included in teams, as their absence could have a major impact on the performance of the team in the competition.

Wherever possible, try to identify trends. These can include whether a team is better at scoring early in an innings or at the death, in addition to their average scores and wickets taken. Doing this can help you identify solid betting opportunities.

2. Track the form and performance of key players

To make the most of the generous odds available on individual player props, it is vital to research their form leading up to the tournament. While some players are known to perform well in the IPL, their lack of cricket or poor performances in recent months could be an indicator of their performance in this year’s competition.

Similarly, if a player has been performing well for other franchises or their country, particularly in the sub-continent, it stands to reason that they are likely to enjoy the conditions here and may shine in the 2026 IPL.

3. Factor in the impact of home-ground advantage

India is a cricket-crazy nation and fans are usually packed to the rafters for IPL matches. As is the case in most sports, the impact of 10s of thousands of passionate fans can have a major impact on the performance of players, making it a crucial factor to consider in your bets.

4. Review historical head-to-head matches

cricket predictions and betting tips

Studying the head-to-head records between teams and individual player matchups is a standard good practice in any sport since certain teams or players may have a historical advantage over their opponents, which can provide valuable insights for betting purposes. Consider factors like playing styles, previous encounters at a specific venue, and consistent performers in crunch matches when assessing matchups.

In addition, the IPL brings some of the fiercest rivalries to the fore, which often translates into teams and players lifting their game to secure victory over their rivals. This is also a great way to identify potential upsets.

5. Spread your bets across different markets

Remember, it is never wise to put all your faith (or funds) into a single bet. The IPL is the biggest T20 franchise event globally and features the best players, each capable of turning a match on its head in an instant.

Therefore, diversifying your bets is not only safer but can also help you find bigger winnings in smaller markets, such as over/ under, player props and innings bets. You can also make use of our betting odds calculator to work out your potential returns on each market.

What not to do for your IPL 2026 predictions

Now that you know how to approach betting on the IPL 2026, here are a few things to avoid:

  • Avoid chasing previous losses
  • Do not bet based on personal bias or emotion
  • Never bet without conducting research
  • Refrain from placing lengthy multiple-bets
  • Never lose control of your bankroll management

You can improve your chances of success in betting by avoiding these common pitfalls.
