Colchester United will enjoy good support at the JobServe Community Stadium for this game. Danny Cowley's team drew 2-2 with Reading in the previous round, before winning 4-3 on penalties to secure this tie against Premier League opponents.
The U's form this season has been a little patchy, losing on the opening day at AFC Wimbledon, before beating MK Dons in the league after the Reading win. However at the weekend, they went down 1-0 at home to Harrogate in what was a disappointing display.
Brentford entered the Carabao Cup in the second round as a Premier League team not in European competition. Thomas Frank's team have played twice this season, beating Crystal Palace 2-1 on the opening day before losing 2-0 to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Manager Frank will likely rotate several key players for this game with a match against Southampton coming up at the weekend. That could see a chance for recent signings Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg to start, as could Kevin Schade, Ivan Toney, Frank Onyeka, Ben Mee and Mikkel Damsgaard.
