Premier League leaders Arsenal are home to Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. The winners of this tie will play Chelsea in the two-legged semi-finals. Can the Gunners get a home win? Read our match prediction below.

This hasn't been the most successful of competitions for Arsenal. Only twice have they lifted the trophy back in 1987 and 1993.  The Gunners will play a weakened line-up in this game as is common for sides when playing in the Carabao Cup. They have a strong squad this season and that may well lead to them winning this competition for the first time in the 21st century.

Crystal Palace are just four games away from adding the Carabao Cup to the FA Cup and Community Shield that they already hold. The Eagles have been flying high this year but that has led to a big fixture pile-up. Two games in three days led to a heavy loss at Leeds United on Saturday and now they have this Carabao Cup tie away at the Emirates. Palace have never won this trophy and last reached the semi-finals in 2012.

Arsenal - Crystal Palace: Form Analysis

While Arsenal have only won this competition twice, they have lost in six finals. the most recent defeat being in 2018. This is their second successive Carabao Cup semi-final, losing to eventual winners Newcastle United last season.

To reach this quarter-final, Arsenal have won at Port Vale and then beat Brighton and Hove Albion at home, with both games won 2-0. The weekend saw Arsenal win 1-0 at Everton to go back to the top of the Premier League.

That was a third successive win for Arsenal following victories over Club Brugge and Wolves. Their last nine home games have all been won and that great run includes a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in October.

Palace are struggling for wins.

Crystal Palace haven't beaten Arsenal since 2022. Since then, the Eagles have gone eight games without a win against their London rivals, losing seven of those meetings. Five previous matches in this competition have seen Palace earn one draw and lose the other four.

Palace slipped to eighth in the Premier League after Saturday's 4-1 loss at Leeds United. They are still only three points behind the final Champions League qualifying position. They have gone three games without a win with nine goals conceded. Both clubs will make plenty of team changes for this Carabao Cup quarter-final. They may just be just three games away from a Wembley final but this game is being played in the middle of a busy festive period, especially for Crystal Palace.

This tie couldn't be played last week because Palace had a Conference League game on Thursday. The Eagles are playing their third game in six days and have a league fixture on the 28th against Spurs.

Palace will be without several players.

Palace will be missing Ismaila Sarr who is playing in AFCON. Also out for the Eagles are Daniel Munoz and Daichi Kamada. That's not helping them in defence and midfield respectively. Striker Jean-Philippe Marteta is a doubt due to his knee injury.

Arsenal will be without several players, including Max Dowman, Gabriel Magalhaes and Ben White. The big question is whether former Palace player Eberechi Eze will play against his old team. He was on the bench at the weekend but is likely to start on Tuesday.
