For the third time in this season’s Copa Libertadores, Paraguayan side Club Olimpia and Brazilian giants Internacional are set to meet. The two face off in the Round of 16 after playing in the same pool at the group stage with hosts Olimpia finishing second with nine points. Internacional had 10 points, topping the group. Olimpia will be looking to avenge the two losses inflicted on them in Group B; a 1-0 home defeat and 6-1 thrashing in Brazil. In their last meeting, both teams had a player sent off; Saul Salcedo for Olimpia and Yuri Alberto for Inter. The hosts haven’t been in action since end of May, but they carry a three-game winning run to this clash, scoring two or more in each of the three games, totaling 12 goals. However, they have no clean sheet in 14 straight matches, though they’ve failed to score in just two of the 14 games. The only home loss Olimpia have suffered in the last eight matches, was inflicted by Internacional.

Internacional have a very poor run as they head out to Paraguay; they are without a win in their last five matches, losing two and haven’t scored more than a goal in that run. In their last 11 matches, they’ve managed just two wins as they continue to endure a tough start to their domestic campaign. Inter have failed to score in their last two matches, against Gremio and Santos, both who are really struggling. What may pass as a positive for Inter though, is the fact that they play away from home; they’ve done much better on the road. In their last five away matches, they haven’t lost though they’ve drawn each of the last three. They’ve failed to score in just one of their last 10 away matches, won four and lost twice.
