Just two later games in the NHL on Presidents Day with the 32-17-5 Carolina Hurricanes hosting the 15-37-3 Chicago Blackhawks in the first of them in the early hours of Tuesday morning. They are trying to keep tabs on the resurgent New York Rangers at the top of the Metropolitan Division but are starting to pull away from the rest. Captain Jordan Staal has stepped up from an offensive standpoint since the All-Star Break, producing points in four of his last five games, he also has nine points in his last 12 games against the Blackhawks. Home form has been the key to the Canes so far this season, not playing as well on the road but they have made their home games count. They are a very short price here to see off the Blackhawks which they should do comfortably.
This is the only road game for the Blackhawks in a long stretch with five at home leading up to this and another five at the United Center after their visit to Carolina. That has to be a plus for them as their record on the road has been abysmal this season, sitting at 4-23-1. They have not been much better at home of late, losing the first four of their recent stretch of games before finally picking up two points in a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators. Connor Bedard is back from the broken jaw injury which has seen him miss a huge chunk of 2024, picking up three points in his first two games back, including a goal in the Ottawa game. The team is still struggling with a string of injuries which has left them bottom of the Western Conference once more this season.
