Carlos Alcaraz and Lorenzo Musetti will face off in the first semi-final at the Rome Masters. This match will mark the two players’ seventh meeting, with the winner meeting Jannik Sinner or Tommy Paul in the final. Read on for our prediction of this match. 

These two met at the Monte Carlo Masters final earlier in April, with Alcaraz winning in three sets. The Spaniard will be keen on extending his dominance against Musetti here.

Head-to-head, he leads in this matchup 5-1. Alcaraz will be charged for this after claiming a straight-sets win over Jack Draper, avenging his loss to the Briton in Indian Wells earlier.

Just as Alcaraz got his revenge on Draper, so will Musetti be targeting a win over Alcaraz. His only win over Alcaraz was on the clay courts of Hamburg in the 2022 final.

It is Musetti’s first semi-final appearance at the Rome Masters, and pushed also by the home crowd, he will aim to go all the way. Musetti has now compiled a 14-2 record on clay and will feel capable of upsetting Alcaraz. 

The Italian has now reached three straight semi-finals in Master events, and with Jannik Sinner still competing, there’s the likelihood of an all-Italian final.
