Canada’s wait for a return to the FIFA World Cup was prolonged after their 1-0 loss away to Costa Rica on Match Day 12 off the final round of qualifiers in the CONCACAF region. needing just a point to confirm their place at the 2022 World Cup, they will train their guns on Jamaica at home in the next fixture. Canada are still top of the table in the qualifiers with 25 points and face a Jamaica side second from bottom with eight points. Canada will be without midfielder Anthony Kaye, who was sent off in the first half of the Costa Rica game. They will however hope to replicate their performance in that game, and only improve on it by scoring. It took inspired goalkeeping from Keylor Navas and the woodwork to stop the Canadians. This was Canada’s first loss in this round of the qualifiers but they still remain in frame for at least the playoffs. They won’t wish to get there and with two games remaining, both against sides outside the top four, this game against Jamaica provides the best chance for Canada securing their place. A run of five straight home wins in World Cup qualification places them in a strong position.
A star studded Jamaica, on the other hand, struggled against minnows El Salvador in their Friday game though it was already confirmed they had no chance of getting to the 2022 World Cup. Not even the presence of Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey and QPR’s Andre Gray could inspire Jamaica as they were forced to come from behind to draw 1-1 with El Salvador. Gray scored the equaliser in that game but they still have a long winless run going into this clash. They have no win in the last seven matches and the four before the draw with El Salvador all ended in defeats. In the last 10 matches, Jamaica have just one win and in this round of qualifiers, they’ve managed just one win - that came against Honduras, the bottom side in the standings. In the last two meetings with Canada, Jamaica have no win and have failed to score in both games; they’ve lost one, and the most recent, they squeezed a 0-0 draw at home.

Our Canada vs Jamaica Prediction
Jamaica haven’t done well in the World Cup qualifiers and will go into this game as underdogs. Playing away to Canada in their current form isn’t a walk in the park. Canada need just a draw to secure a spot at Qatar 2022, and in their form at home they will do even better. They’ve scored in both halves in four of their last five home matches in these qualifiers and we are backing them to lead in both halves here.
