Brighton and Hove Albion again look like a side that will have to rely on home form if they are to achieve anything this season. Their only home game so far this season has seen them shock Manchester Unitred with a 3-2 victory. However, both away games have ended in defeat so it's a good job they have been drawn at home in this Carabao Cup second round tie. It'll be interesting to see how strong a side both teams will put out for this fixture having only played on Saturday and another important Premier League fixture coming up at the weekend. Brighton have signed a few players during the summer so may give them a game in this competition. Home form for Brighton has seen them with just one defeat in nine games and that includes two wins over Manchester United, victory over Arsenal and a draw with Tottenham. They have won three of their last four home games in the League Cup but all against lower league opposition.
Southampton lost again on Saturday and haven't made a good start to the season with only one point and two goals from three league games. They reached the final of this competition a couple of seasons ago losing to Manchester United but lost to Wolves in the second round last season. Southampton have won their last three away games in this competition but their current squad isn't one capable of winning away at Liverpool and Arsenal as they did on their way to that Carabao Cup final. Scoring goals is still a problem for them and in the Premier League have only won a couple of away games all year, both against sides that went on to get relegated. Brighton could do with a good cup run and if they keep getting home draws might just do that, go for a home win in this match.
