The dominant force in this competition, Brazil has claimed the title in eight of the nine total editions of the Copa America Femenina. This includes the last four in a row, with only Argentina in 2006 preventing a clean sweep for the Brazilians.
They have a perfect record ahead of Friday’s match, beating Venezuela 2-0 in the opener before dominating Bolivia and Paraguay in the next two fixtures with 6-0 and 4-1 scorelines, respectively. When factoring in friendly matches, the Brazil women’s side has now won six of their last seven outings, which includes wins over USA and Japan (twice).
Colombia is very much an up-and-coming side. Boosted by the phenomenal Linda Caicedo, one of the brightest young talents in women's football, Las Chicas Superpoderosas are up to record high 18th in the FIFA rankings.
After being held to a goalless draw with Venezuela in the opener, Colombia responded by blasting four goals past Paraguay and eight goals past Bolivia to move up to seven points in the competition. This is the final group stage game for these teams with the top two advancing to the semi-finals.
