The Premier League is finally back after a long international break with matchday four action! Seventh-place Bournemouth look to continue their promising start to the season when they host 11th-placed Brighton at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Check out our prediction for this match between the Cherries and the Seagulls!
After a ninth-place finish last year, Bournemouth fans will feel bullish about their chances of pushing on and challenging for a spot in the top seven and potential European qualification. With six points from the first three games, it marks the second-best start to a season in club history.
Brighton, meanwhile, experienced a slow start to the campaign before a stunning upset victory in matchday three. With four points from three games, they’ll be looking to leapfrog their opponents and break into the top half with all three points here. It’s been happy hunting for the Albion against this opponent in recent years, which includes five wins in their last six meetings. Will they experience more of the same on Saturday?

Bournemouth - Brighton: Form Analysis
Bournemouth sent out a real statement of intent in their 1-0 away win over Tottenham before the international break. It wasn’t a case of the Cherries simply holding on for dear life, they were clearly the better team and statistically outperformed Spurs in nearly every category.
The visitors fired off 19 total shots and generated 1.59 expected goals compared to only five shots (one on target) and 0.13 expected goals from Tottenham.
Bournemouth rank as the fifth-best defensive team with only 2.90 expected goals conceded.
After a 4-2 away defeat to Liverpool to open the campaign, Bournemouth have now won their last two straight Premier League matches on the bounce.
As for Brighton, they’ll also come into this game with plenty of momentum after their dramatic 2-1 come-from-behind home victory over Manchester City two weeks ago. An 89th minute goal by Brajan Gruda sealed their second straight home win over the Citizens.
They opened the season with a 1-1 home draw with Fulham before a 2-0 away loss to Everton in matchday two.
A 6-0 rout of Oxford in the EFL Cup third round means that Brighton have now won their last two matches in a row across all competitions.

Bournemouth & Brighton Squad Analysis
Despite seeing their star defensive players snapped up by Europe’s elite in the summer window, Bournemouth have been able to cope well. They brought in Bafode Diakite from Lille in a big money move, the club’s second biggest ever transfer fee paid (€35 million), along with Adrien Truffert from Rennes.
Center back Marcos Senesi is set to play a starring role in the Cherries defense this season and was instrumental in both attack and defense in the 1-0 win over Tottenham. The 28-year-old assisted Evanilson on the opening goal, completed 17 passes into the final third, won 5/5 ground duels, made four interceptions and provided eight clearances.
Marcos Sensei put in a man-of-the-match performance against Spurs.
Manager Andoni Iraola will be unable to call upon Adam Smith, Lewis Cook and Enas Unal ahead of Saturday’s match.
39-years-young James Milner kept his cool from the spot to score the first goal in Brighton’s 2-1 win over his former club. It also marked his first goal for the Seagulls since joining in June of 2023.
After coming off the bench to score the winner, German midfielder Brajan Gruda will be pushing for a spot in the starting 11. He should be supported by Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh on the wings with Danny Welbeck leading the line once again.
Manager Fabian Hurzeler will be without Mats Wieffer, Adam Webster and Solly March.

Our Bournemouth vs Brighton Prediction
This should be a fascinating matchup as both teams come into this game after excellent results before the international break. The oddsmakers have this one as close to a coinflip, but we give a slightly bigger edge in favor of the home team here.
Iraola has his side playing phenomenally on the defensive end and they’ll be a tough team to break down at the Vitality Stadium. While Brighton have dominated this fixture in recent years, Bournemouth look set to buck that trend on Saturday.
