Uruguay and Bolivia are the only winless sides in Group A of Copa America so far and each will be hoping to end that unwanted run when they face off on Friday. Ahead of this game, Uruguay have one point while Bolivia have none, with both having played two games. Bolivia’s last outing was against Chile and it ended 1-0, a second straight loss at this competition and worse, the first time they failed to score in the last nine matches. In eight of their last 10 matches, both sides have scored, but in the last six, Bolivia have managed to score more than a goal on just one occasion. These two nations should have met in the World Cup qualifiers in March, but that was postponed. The last time they faced off was four years ago, in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, and Uruguay won 4-2, making it three wins and one loss to Bolivia in five matches.

Uruguay are really struggling to get their footing in this competition and going to this game they have no win in their last five matches. They are coming from another dismal outing, a 1-1 draw with Chile and they could only equalize via an own goal after going down to Eduardo Vargas’ first half strike. Chile’s Arturo Vidal netted the equalizer for Uruguay and that happens to be their only goal in the last five matches. An aging Uruguay squad has struggled to cope with the pace in their international assignments and while their key players have done well at club level, it has been tough at international level. Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani have failed to inspire the team; the two forwards now going without a goal in the last five matches. Cavani served a two-game suspension though and has played in the last two matches following his sending off against Brazil.
