This is an important game for both of these countries. Neither won their opening game in the 2019 African Cup of Nations tournament but a win here could see them reach the knock-out stages as one of the top third-placed teams. That's definitely the case for Benin who drew their first match 2-2 with Ghana. They took an early lead in that match, went 2-1 down but grabbed an equalizer to get a valuable point. A win over Guinea-Bissau should see them into the last 16 and perhaps even as an automatic qualifier. Benin are ranked 88th in the world and that is 30 places above their opponents. They are unbeaten in their last four games and are more than capable of beating a team that is ranked outside of the top 100.

Guinea-Bissau lost their opening game 2-0 to the defending champions Cameroon. They held them to the 66th minute before their opponents scored two quick goals to put them in total charge of the game, With a final match against Ghana to come, Guinea-Bissau will look at this match as being the one to win and then hope to be one of the top third placed teams. That's looking unlikely though as they have failed to score in three of their last four matches.
