Few would have guessed that Luca Van Assche would be France's top player in this weeks Paris Masters. The unseeded player is in the semi-finals of this indoor hard court tournament. We believe his run will end against the much higher ranked Ben Shelton, but it could be a long match. Our prediction is Shelton wins and more than 21.5 games.
Luca Van Assche is up 13 places to 34th in the live rankings after this run to his first Masters semi-final. He'd never previously made it past the second round of a Masters event. He's had to win four matches with one seed (15th-seeded Learner TIen) beaten.
The quarter-finals saw him defeat Rinky Hijikata in three sets, his second match to go to a decider.

It's been a big year for Ben Shelton who was the runner-up in the US Open. He is fourth in the live rankings (and ATP Race) and this is also his first Masters semi-final. The American avoided a sixth Masters quarter-final loss when he beat 12th seed Tommy Paul in three sets on Friday.
