Eternal Greek rivals Olympiakos and Panathinaikos will battle each other in the third-place playoff of this year’s EuroLeague Final Four. This is their fifth meeting of the season. Read on to find our prediction for this match.

Olympiakos were undone 78-68 in the semi-finals by Monaco. It is the second consecutive time that the three-time European champions have failed to make the championship game.

The Reds finished third last season. They will hope to do so once again to end what might feel like a disappointing campaign on a high. Georgios Bartzokas’s men entered the playoffs with the best regular season record and were regarded by many as potential champions.

Panathinaikos will also feel the same disappointment as their domestic rivals. They were the defending champions but were halted in their tracks by Fenerbahce.

The Turkish giants won 82-76 in the semis, handing the Greens their third loss in their last five playoff fixtures. An emotionally charged game saw regular-season MVP Kendrick Nunn foul out.

Club owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos also received a multiple-game ban for his outbursts towards match officials. Panathinaikos have dominated domestically against Olympiakos but haven’t won any of the two’s last eight European battles.
