Australia host Japan in the second Test of their two-match series at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Saturday. The Wallabies won the closely contested first Test in Japan last week despite playing 20 minutes with 14 men, maintaining their perfect record against the Cherry Blossoms. Our prediction backs the hosts to ease past the visitors.
Joe Schmidt ended his two-year reign as Australia head coach with a much-needed 57–10 victory over Italy in the Nations Championship – a result that snapped a six-match losing streak for the team. New head coach Les Kiss looks set to build on that victory after leading the team to a hard-fought three-point win over Japan in his first Test in charge last week.
The Wallabies played 20 minutes with 14 men against the Brave Blossoms after lock Miles Amatosero's red card, but still held firm to win 35–32. That result preserved their perfect 6–0–0 record against Japan and secured their first back-to-back Test wins since July 2025.
Meanwhile, Japan dropped two places to 12th in the rankings after last week's defeat. With only narrow margins separating them from 11th-place Italy and 10th-place Wales, the Brave Blossoms could regain their No. 10 spot with a win.
However, that outcome looks unlikely. Eddie Jones’ men have lost eight of their last 10 Tests, including the most recent three. They have also suffered defeat in three of their last four away Tests, two of which by blowout margins.
