The NL East first-place Atlanta Braves take on the NL Central fourth-place Cincinnati Reds at SunTrust Park for this National League clash in Major League Baseball. The Braves, who are the bookmakers’ second favorites to win the 2023 World Series behind the current champions Houston, will look to make it a 3-0 sweep over the Reds when the two teams face off for the third of a three game series here. Atlanta won the first game of the series in extra innings by a score of 5-4 before following it with 7-6 win in game two. The recent two game winning streak means that the 2021 World Series champions have now started the season with a record of eight wins from the first 12 games, putting the Braves first in the division and giving them an early two game lead over the second-place Mets.

The Reds, meanwhile, have started the new season slowly and have entered into an early slump. Cincinnati have now lost their five of their last six games following the two straight losses to Atlanta. They’ll turn to 23-year-old righty Hunter Greene to take the mound and attempt to get the Reds back to winning ways here. Greene struggled in his first start of the season, lasting only three and a third innings while giving up three earned runs and a home run. He did manage eight strikeouts in that start however, which was an encouraging sign. Greene performed better in his second start coming away from home as he made it through four and two thirds innings, giving up two earned runs while punching out five batters. Spencer Strider takes the mound for Atlanta and will be looking to build upon a solid start to the season. Strider was superb in his first appearance of the season but came back down to Earth in his second outing.
