Atalanta begin 2021 with a vital match in their bid to qualify for next season's Champions League. They start the game in seventh but a win over fourth placed Sassuolo will narrow the gap to just a point. Of course, Atalanta could yet win the Champions League this season having qualified for the last sixteen. In Serie A, they have lacked a bit of consistency this season. That wasn't the case early on when winning their first three league games to top the table. Only three of the next ten have been won though but two have come in the last four fixtures. Away form has seen them draw each of their last three Serie A games but their home record has produced two good wins of late. They beat Fiorentina 3-0 and Roma 4-1 after no wins in their previous three home fixtures. With 14 home league goals, only four sides in Serie A have scored more this season.

Sassuolo begin the year in fourth place but that's eight points behind leaders Milan. They fill the final Champions League qualification spot but only lead fifth placed Napoli by a point and have played a game more. Sassuolo began the new Serie A season with an unbeaten run of eight games, three of which were drawn. There were some good wins in that run with victories at Napoli and Verona but the other three were against sides currently in the bottom eight. Form then began to dip for Sassuolo with only a win over Benevento in the next five. They bounced back with a 3-2 win at Sampdoria in their final game of 2020. Away form is strong with only one loss in their last 12 away league games. They are yet to lose away in Serie A this season with five wins and two draws. This looks a tough one for them though and the tip is for Atalanta to get an important home victory.
