Aston Villa start the weekend in 18th place, three points above the relegation zone and six off the play-off places. It's not been an easy start for them back in the Championship after their disastrous season that saw them relegated without much of a fight. Just the one win so far in their first eight games but five have been drawn with just two defeats. The last three league games and five of the last six have all ended in stalemates. At home Villa beat Rotherham in their opening fixture and it's been followed by three straight score draws. Newcastle are faring a lot better in their attempt to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. They're third and just two points off the automatic promotion spots. No draws so far in the league with five wins and three defeats. Away form was appalling last season and this time around they lost their opening away match. Since then they have won three in a row on the road scoring nine and keeping three clean sheets. With Villa struggling for form Newcastle can get another away win here to keep up the pressure on the top two.
