British qualifier Oliver Tarvet has a tough task in round one at Wimbledon. He faces the 25th seed Arthur Rinderknech for a place in round two of this grass court Grand Slam. Rinderknech reached round three last year and is ranked over 300 places above Tarvet, so our prediction is he will win this match.

Round two will see the winner face either Marco Trungelliti or Martin Damm, both unseeded.

Oliver Tarvet is playing in the main draw at Wimbledon for the second successive year. Rather than being granted a wild card, the 22-year-old has battled his way through the three qualifying rounds. It took him nearly seven hours to do so this year with his final qualifier going to five sets.

He recently turned professional and has won five of his eight grass court matches this year, reaching the last eight of the Ilkley Challenger Tour event.

Last year saw him get to round two at Wimbledon, losing to Carlos Alcaraz.

Arthur Rinderknech went a round further in 2025. He was ranked 28th in the last ranking list, while Tarvet was 349th. 

In 2025, Rinderknech had a 7-5 record on grass and beat both Ben Shelton and Alexander Zverev. He has played two grass court matches this year, losing both.
