Tuesday night in Major League Baseball sees the NL West third-place Arizona Diamondbacks hosting the AL West leading Texas Rangers. The Diamondbacks are on the cusp of a Wild Card spot but currently sit on the outside looking in as we approach the end of the MLB regular season. They currently trail the Giants for the third and final Wild Card position by only a half game with roughly 30 games remaining on the schedule. Arizona’s 65 wins and 61 losses also puts them a massive 12.5 games behind the division leading Dodgers. The D'Backs are coming off a 4-3 win over the Rangers in the first game of this quick two-game series. It was the latest victory for Arizona who have now ripped off six wins from their last seven appearances and eight from the last 10. Zac Gallen gets the nod for the home team and is sporting a 13-5 record with an impressive 3.17 ERA on the year.

On the other side is a Texas Rangers team looking to put an end to an ugly losing streak which has seen them cede some ground in the division race. The loss to Arizona yesterday means that the Rangers have now lost their last five on the bounce, dropping their record to 72 wins and 53 losses. They’re somewhat fortunate that the second-place Astros haven’t fully been able to take advantage with the lead in the AL West for Texas currently sitting at 1.5 games. The Rangers will have to earn a road win as the underdog if they are to ultimately put a stop to this losing streak. Taking the mound for the visiting team is Jon Gray who is 8-6 on the year with a 3.52 ERA. Gray’s last outing was an excellent seven inning performance which saw him give up just one earned run.
