These two countries usually face each other in the Rugby Championship at this time of the year. That's not being played this year, but the Pumas host Australia this weekend. Home advantage will be important and our prediction is an Argentine win on a +5.5 handicap.
Argentina have won two of the last three matches played against Australia. The most recent of those saw the Pumas win in Sydney last September. It was a close match with a winning margin of just two points.
Before that, Australia had beaten them (again played on home soil) but just by four points. Argentina has now recorded three wins in the last five against Australia. Only once in those matches was the winning margin more than four points.
Recent fixtures have seen them beat Wales but lose to England.
This is the first of two matches between the Wallabies and the Pumas. The second is being played on September 5, before Australia have a tough home game against world champions South Africa on the 27th.
Australia have won their last three matches. They beat Scotland and then recorded two wins over Japan. One of those wins against Japan was only by three points That hat-trick of wins ended a run of six straight losses .
