Two debutants face off at the Geneva Open, with Alexei Popyrin and Cameron Norrie having made it to the quarter-finals of the competition. They will clash for the second time in their careers on Thursday, and the winner will face Novak Djokovic or Matteo Arnaldi. We have a prediction for the match below.

For first-time participants, these two players have done well. The path to going deeper in the competition will, however, get tougher. At least they can, at the moment, enjoy this.

Ranked higher, Popyrin will feel like the favorite here. He struggled a bit against Nicolas Jarry but in the last round had a dominant display, beating Jacob Fearnley in straights.

Norrie had an easier outing, as his opponent, Tomas Machac’s injury woes showed up again and the Czech withdrew. In the first round he had beaten Dominic Stricker in straight sets.

With this run, the Briton has four straight wins and will be positive about extending his run against Popyrin. In their only meeting so far on the Atlanta hard courts, Norrie posted a straight-set win, but that was six years ago.

Much has changed for the two players, and having spent more than two hours on the court here, Norrie will be at a disadvantage.
