Two seeded players meet in round three of the National Bank Open in Toronto. Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina is seeded 20th for this outdoor hard court tournament and faces 12th seed Jakub Mensik. Here's our match prediction.
Davidovich-Fokina is in top form at present and was the losing finalist in last week's hard court event in Washington. That was his third ATP Tour final on this surface in 2025. He had excellent wins over two top ten ranked players, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton but lost the final to Alex de Minaur in three sets.
He has carried on his good run in Toronto with a straight sets win over Corentin Moutet in round two of this Masters event. The Spaniard is now a career-high 18th in the live rankings and 11th in the ATP Race.
Davidovich-Fokina leads Mensik 3-1 in previous meetings, including the last three and two on hard courts, including this year's Australian Open.
Jakub Mensik won the hard court Masters tournament in Miami this year. Players beaten included Djokovic, Fritz and Draper. Two other hard court quarter-finals have also been reached. Mensik beat qualifier Tristan Boyer in straight sets in round two and is 17th in the live rankings.
