Unseeded pair Frances Tiafoe and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina meet in the first round of the hard court Cincinnati Masters. The winner will face either 14th seed Lorenzo Musetti or unseeded Nicolas Jarry in round two. Here's our match prediction.

Frances Tiafoe had a tough draw in Montreal last week and lost in round one to Alejandro Tabilo. The American had more success in his previous tournament when making it to the last four in Washington and that included beating Andrey Rublev.

Before that he began this American hard court swing with a run to the quarter-finals in Atlanta. Tiafoe is 26th in the live rankings and ten places lower in the ATP Race. He won his only previous match against Fokina but that was played on clay.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is down to 53rd in the live rankings. He slipped down from 42nd because ranking points earned when reaching the last four of the Rogers Cup last year. This time around he lost in round three when retiring from his match against Matteo Arnaldi.

Before that though he had beaten Daniil Medvedev in the second round and also made it to the last eight in Atlanta. Fokina is also 53rd in the Live ATP Race which is 17 places below his opponent. We tip three sets to be played in this match.
