AC Milan vs Spal Prediction & Betting Tips - Serie A

AC Milan are 13th in Serie A, five points behind the Europa League places and just three above the relegation zone. They bid to put some more space between them and the bottom three when hosting SPAL who are one from bottom in the table. Milan recently sacked their manager and appointed Stefano Pioli but he has yet to lead them to a league win. Their weekend  2-1 loss to Roma hasn’t helped matters and after the matches played earlier in midweek, Milan are now seven points adrift of the Champions League places. The fact is that the side is currently nowhere near the standard needed to make the Champions League. Milan have won just one of their last six matches ahead of this clash, with the hosts firing boss Marco Giampaolo following their last victory. Four of those six matches have ended in defeat. Pioli has seen his new team earn one point from two games since taking over. The big revival that he was supposed to inspire has yet to transpire, leaving the hosts in a tricky position ahead of this one.

SPAL are having a tough time themselves, with the club second-bottom following some dire results to date. They come into this clash a point shy of safety and three behind Milan, but could they produce an incredible result to put even more pressure on their opponents?  So far the visitors have been awful in their away trips, losing every one of their four league games. Even worse they are still waiting to score their first away league goal of the season.

The bookies seem quite confident that this game will see SPAL lose a fifth straight away league game. Milan have done little to convince us so far, especially the two games under Pioli’s watch. They’ve conceded twice in each, while they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in six. SPAL come here with a losing streak behind them, but they won’t fear this Milan team going into the San Siro clash. We expect better from SPAL here, especially as they can threaten a Milan side who aren’t keeping clean sheets. When Milan do win – and they’ve only won three of their nine games so far – they tend to narrowly edge games. The home side have won by a single goal in each of their matches so far. Go for a 2-1 Milan win in this game and as a secondary bet, a wager on SPAL with a +2 handicap could also produce a winner.
