The Philadelphia 76ers will be at home against the New York Knicks for game three of their Eastern Conference first-round playoff matchup. New York lead the series 2-0 after defending home court in the first two fixtures. The Sixers will be seeking to tie up this series as it switches to Philadelphia for the next two matches. Aside from being back home, the Sixers will also be motivated by how they performed in New York. In the last game in particular, late officiating calls played a big role as they fell 104-101. The Sixers had led for the majority of the game and at one point were 10 points clear. Considering that both Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey weren’t fully fit, Philly have reason to believe they can turn things around. They have two days to prepare and re-energize. The Sixers had won nine straight matches before game one. Embiid is expected to be questionable as he is managing a knee injury that kept him out for two months in the regular season. He and Maxey have averaged over 30 points in these playoffs.

The New York Knicks should be pleased that they defended home court. They are now two wins away from defeating the Sixers to advance to the second round. Tom Thibeadeu’s men will be confident they can manage to win at least once in Philly if not both games. After finishing the regular season with five successive wins, they are now on a seven-match winning run. The Knicks have also won five of six matchups with the Sixers this season with two being road victories. Julius Randle continues to be sidelined for the Knicks and will not be involved for the remainder of the season. Jalen Brunson was New York’s bright spark during the regular season but the guard has struggled in this series. He averaged 28.7 points in the regular season but in the first two games against Philly this has dropped by five. The 27-year-old has shot 16 of 55 from the field in both games combined.
