Newcastle vs Brighton Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

Newcastle United host Brighton this weekend in a game which could see the home side close the gap on fifth placed Tottenham Hotspur in the race for fifth. Eddie Howe’s team lie 6th in the table at present, four points behind Spurs but with three games still to play. The first of these comes against Brighton this weekend and the home team should be confident after a seven game unbeaten run at St. James’ Park. They have also been amongst the goals in those games, rattling in 23 goals in those matches and conceding 11. At St James’ Park, Newcastle have won 12, drawn three and lost three of their 18 home games, the best home record outside of the top three. 

Brighton ended a run of six games without a win thanks to a 1-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend. They now lie 11th in the Premier League table on 47 points, albeit with a game in hand on a couple of teams above them in the table. Robert De Zerbi’s team have endured a torrid time with injuries of late, which has played a large part in their lack of form. They have also struggled away from home, losing three times as many games on the road (nine) as they have at home (three). The Seagulls have won just one of their last 12 away games in the Premier League, a 5-0 win at Sheffield United in February, drawing four and losing the other six games. They will take one positive into this game and that is the fact that they beat Newcastle United 3-1 when the teams met back in September.
