Yoshihito Nishioka is back at the Delray Beach Open and will battle sixth seed Matteo Arnaldi in the first round. The winner will then set up a second-round showdown with either Rinky Hijikata or Liam Broady. Yoshihito Nishioka is a former Delray Beach Open finalist. He achieved this feat in 2020 and is his best-ever result at the tournament. In his last two appearances though he hasn’t been able to go past the second round and he will be hoping to change that. The Japanese number two is set to start a new week ranked 83rd in the ATP. He has played four matches thus far and has won three times. His only defeat however was also his only outing on a hard court. This was in the first round at the Australian Open. Nishioka was competing in Dallas in his last tournament and gave out a walkover in the second round.

Matteo Arnaldi is making his Delray debut. He arrives for the tournament after his second-round exit at the Australian Open. Having not taken to a tennis court in three weeks, he will hope to have boosted his energy for a deep run here. The Italian has had a shaky start to the year and in seven outings has won four times. All seven matches have been played on hard courts. His best result so far was in Adelaide, his first tournament of the year, where he produced a quarterfinal finish. The 22-year-old will start a new week having dropped in the world ranking. He is now down three places to 41st in the live ranking.
