Wolves vs West Ham Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

by Daniel Ngulu | in Premier League Prediction

West Ham United’s Champions League hopes are still alive despite the dramatic draw with Arsenal in their last game and they’ll be hoping to better it when they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday. Hosts Wolves are placed 13th with 35 points while West Ham have 49 points, in fifth place. Wolves are winless in their last four matches, and head to this game straight from a 1-0 loss to Liverpool, the second league game in which they’ve failed to score. After a promising start to the campaign, Wolves have slumped in recent times and have just five wins in 15 matches in all competitions. In the Premier League, they have three wins and six losses in 15 matches. They aren’t really great scorers, though they also don’t let in a lot of goals. In their last 10 league matches, Wolves have scored more than one goal in two and have conceded more than one goal in just one game – the 4-0 loss to Manchester City. In the City loss, the last three goals came in the final 10 minutes after a fine showing by Wolves in the opening 80 minutes. They also need to improve on their home form, having managed only three wins in the last 10. From a possible 30 points in the last 10 home matches, Wolves have managed just 12. Their four-game winning run against West Ham was stopped in a 4-0 loss in the two sides’ meeting in September. In these teams’ last seven meetings, there has been no draw and the winning side keeps a clean sheet. Wolves will be without Fernando Marcal and the long term absentee Raul Jimenez in this game but Rui Patricio is set to return after the scare in the team’s game against Liverpool. Joao Moutinho picked an injury on international duty with Portugal and is also out while Daniel Podence remains a doubt.

West Ham United are just two points below the final Champions League spot. That should be all the encouragement they need for this game as they hope Chelsea loses to relegation threatened West Bromwich Albion. In their last game, West Ham led 3-0 against Arsenal but it ended 3-3 and they’ll be hoping for a better performance defensively this time. They’ve managed just one clean sheet in the last five matches, so manager David Moyes will know where to focus his energies in the run up to this game. In attack, the London side has done well, scoring two or more in six of the last 10 matches and new signing Jesse Lingard has been key in this aspect, with five goals in the eight matches since joining. In their last 15 league matches, West Ham have three losses and eight wins, but head here without a win in the last three away league matches, and the last two ended in losses. They have four clean sheets in 10 away matches in the league and have conceded two or more goals in three of their last 10 away league matches. Going to this clash, they’ll miss the services of Italian defender Angelo Ogbonna, Andriy Yarmolenko and Darren Randolph who are injured, while Pablo Fornals and Arthur Masuaku are major doubts.

Our Wolves vs West Ham Prediction

Wolves haven’t had a very good run ahead of this fixture, and here they have a real test, with West Ham trying to rise to the Champions League slots. West Ham haven’t done well away from home in recent matches but they have the quality to turn that around, though that will call for a better defensive output. In attack, West Ham have been great and will really test Wolves but their defensive failings make this game look good for a both-teams-to-score bet but a win for West Ham is more likely.
