It's not been the easiest of starts to the new Premier League season for both of these clubs. Wolverhampton Wanderers had to wait until their sixth game before finally getting a win but have now won two in a row to move up to 11th in the table. They bid to make it three successive wins with a home victory over 17th placed Southampton. Wolves were in the relegation zone until they finally got a league victory over bottom-of-the-table Watford. They followed that up with a shock win at Manchester City to move three points above the bottom three and only two adrift of the seventh place they finished in last season. Wolves will have appreciated a bit of a rest after their hectic season with so many Europa League games to play. They are unbeaten in their last five league and cup games and beginning to look more like the side that did so well last season.

Southampton start the weekend just one place above the relegation zone. They are only out of the bottom three because they have scored more goals than Everton. The Saints have won two of their league games this season, both away from home at Brighton and Hove Albion and Sheffield United. Current form sees them with three losses in the last four games and nine goals conceded. The only win was an away victory against local rivals League One Portsmouth in the EFL Cup. Go for a home win for Wolves in this match.
