Wolfsburg have been in the Champions League in recent years and not done that bad either. That all seems a long time away though and they finished 16th in the Bundesliga this season. The bottom two are automatically relegated but the side third from bottom - Wolfsburg - go into a two-legged play-off against Eintracht Brunswick. Wolfsburg only ended up in the bottom three on goal difference and led their final game at Hamburg before losing 2-1 to an 86th minute goal. Home form was poor during the league season with only five wins and their two most recent ones were against the two sides below them in the table. Strangely they had the seventh best away record in the league but still ended up in the bottom three. Eintracht Brunswick finished third in the German second division only a point behind automatic promotion so that put them in this play-off for a spot in the Bundesliga. They certainly had a strange end to their season with a penultimate game away at Bielefeld who had an unbeaten run that got them out of the relegation zone and they beat Eintracht 6-0 at home! They only won one of their last four away league games and that points towards Wolfsburg being able to get a home win here.
