Both of these clubs are still waiting for their first Premier League win of the season. West Ham United made an appalling start to the new season with a 3-0 defeat at Sunderland, while the Blues of Chelsea were held to a goalless home draw by Crystal Palace. Here's our match prediction.
It's not uncommon for West Ham to make a poor start to a season. Many times they have been full of enthusiasm at the start of a season only to go on a poor run and be playing catch-up for the rest of the season. The Hammers finished 14th in the Premier League last season despite plenty of new signings. Additions have been made to their squad but not on the scale of most other sides in the table.
Chelsea have as ever been busy in the transfer window with over £200 million spent on players. The Club World Cup winners still couldn't put a goal past Palace on Sunday and would have lost the game but for a disallowed goal for the visitors in the first half. There are likely to be more signings and departures before the summer transfer window closes but they need to get a first league win before that.

West Ham - Chelsea: Form Analysis
West Ham will have been hugely disappointed with their opening weekend performance at newly-promoted Sunderland. It wasn't going to be an easy game for them but few of their staff would have anticipated them being beaten 3-0.
With Nottingham Forest, Tottenham and Crystal Palace to play after this match, the Hammers will need to show great improvement on the Sunderland display to avoid being in the bottom half of the table in September.
West Ham struggle at home.
They won only five home league games last season with nine ending in defeat. That included a 3-0 defeat by Chelsea last September who completed a double over them later in the season. West Ham have only won one of their last seven games against the Blues.
Chelsea had a busy summer with their success in the Club World Cup. They finished fourth in the league last season with eight away league victories. Last weekend saw them huff and puff against Palace but were unable to break the deadlock against the FA Cup and Community Shield winners.
Only one of their last 13 matches has been lost, a defeat to Flamengo in the Club World Cup group stages.

West Ham & Chelsea Squad Analysis
Both clubs are looking to score their first goals of the new Premier League campaign. In recent years, this fixture has seen at least three goals scored in seven of the last ten matches. There hasn't been a goalless draw between West Ham and Chelsea since 2018.
Chelsea have again been busy signing players who should be scoring plenty of goals for them Joao Pedro was a big hit after arriving midway during the Club World Cup. Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens are also strikers capable of exploiting West Ham's defence if they repeat their performance against Sunderland.
Jackson and Nkunku are unlikely to feature for Chelsea.
Will Nicholas Jackson play? He's available again after serving his suspension but there's major talk of him leaving Stamford Bridge. The same applies to Christopher Nkunku and both may well be on the sidelines.
Tosin Adarabioyo missed their opening game against Palace and with this game being played just five days later, the defender remains doubtful as does Romeo Lavia.
West Ham dare not put in another poor performance. Coach Graham Potter isn't that popular a man in East London. A loss against his former club will only add more pressure onto his shoulders.
Edson Alvarez is apparently on his way to Fenerbahce so won't be playing on Friday. Crysencio Summerville is close to making his comeback but not expected to feature this weekend. Mads Hermansen is likely to remain as goalie but Chelsea are bound to put lots of pressure on him.
