West Brom consolidated their place in the top six with the win over Preston and though they are nine points off second place, they can still dream of a great run and an automatic promotion place. That however is still some distance away and the job at hand is to try and stop the surge from Hull City, who have now moved to just five points below the promotion playoff slots. Hull City lost crucial ground in their last match, falling to another promotion hopeful, Middlesbrough, and they will be keen not to repeat the same against another promotion seeking side. Four wins in the last 10 matches doesn’t portray West Brom as the strongest but playing at home should spur them; they have picked three straight wins at home and are unbeaten in four straight at home also. In their last three home matches West Brom have scored three goals or more. In 18 home matches across all competitions, West Brom have failed to score in just one. On Hull City’s part, the loss to Middlesbrough, cut short a three game winning run and four matches unbeaten. Hull have scored two goals or more in seven of the last 10 matches but they have a tattered away form, of just two wins in their last 10 away games, and seven losses therein. Hull beat West Brom in the first leg, but they have suffered three losses in six matches against West Brom while just two of the last eight meetings have yielded over 2.5 goals.
