It has not been a great season so far for West Bromwich Albion, and they will be hoping to make matters easier when they host Chelsea in their Saturday Premier League clash. After two matches since returning to the top flight, West Brom are bottom of the league standings with no point, while Chelsea, on three points, are placed 11th. West Brom are coming from a loss to Brenford in the Carabao Cup and they will be mad at the manner in which they lost the match. Twice, they took the lead, and twice they lost it, before the Championship side knocked them out on post match penalties. This was the third time in four matches that West Brom had conceded two or more goals, and the second straight time they took the lead and ended up dejected. With this, they carry a lot of questions about their defence to the clash against Chelsea, who have a very potent attack as they head to this clash. They have however found the back of the net in their last three matches, in each of these scoring at least twice. Each of their four matches so far this season has produced over 2.5 goals and they will be hoping to score against Chelsea for the first time in five meetings.

Chelsea have five wins in six, and four straight clean sheets, against West Bromwich Albion. They head to this game on the back of a 6-0 win over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup in which two new signings in defence made their debuts and another – Kai Havertz scored his first, second and third Chelsea goals. In their last league outing, Chelsea were blanked 2-0 by Liverpool but coming from the big win in midweek, they will carry the confidence to this clash. The loss to Liverpool was one of the two matches Chelsea have failed to score in the last 14 league matches, and they have scored two or more goals in 11 of the 14. However, they have only four clean sheets in their last 15 league matches and none in their last 11 away league games. Chelsea have scored two or more goals in seven of their last eight away league matches and having already won their first away game this season, they will be seeking to improve their away record.
